LisaKinVA
So...younger son woke up in the middle of the night not able to breathe (he had spiked a fever, which triggered the inflammation of his abnormally-small airway, it's been a couple of years since anything like this has happened, so I was thinking he outgrew it.). I gave him four nebulizer treatments, which calmed everything down, and he came back to my bed and fell asleep (lucky him...me, not so much). I've been asking all day if he wanted to go to the doctor, and he said no. He has a little fever, he sounds congested, but claims no sinus pain/headache, deep breathing does not make him cough, but there is a LOT of mucous). Of course, it's now after 5pm, His pediatrician's office is closed. We just did two more nebulizer treatments...and he's still wheezing!. He's been sleeping pretty much all. day. long. At this point, our only option is the ER...and I can't help it, I don't want to go! They are going to give him an oral steroid, a shot and more nebulizer treatments...and if it doesn't settle down I am THERE all night. I'm whining...I know I'm whining. I need to just suck it up and take the child to the ER...don't I?
PinkyandtheBrains.
Do you have a walk in prompt care you could go to instead of ER? But yes, go.
