does she have an instrument available, or does she want to learn to read music without an instrument?

There is a fun computer program called Music Ace, that you can use without an instrument. It might be a little young for your daughter, but it works.

If you have an instrument, the best way is to look for beginner books for that instrument.

If you search "music theory" in Google, there are some free music theory lessons on the web - and there are *plenty* of books and workbooks you can buy! But if you answer the questions above, I might be able to help you better.

There are several good theory books out there. The Keith Snell series is great for her level and would be self-teaching. She would definitely start at the preparatory level.

Honestly though, there are also several other great series at the music store. And definitely go for Music Ace. It's great!
