Tera
My soon to be 10th grade daughter wants to learn how to read music. Is there a curriculum out there that I can get to do this at home? THANKS for your help.:bigear:
Jackie in AR
Music Ace is a fun, interactive computer program that teaches note reading, among other things. We have Music Ace Deluxe, and my dc all enjoy it.
Mama Lynx
does she have an instrument available, or does she want to learn to read music without an instrument? There is a fun computer program called Music Ace, that you can use without an instrument. It might be a little young for your daughter, but it works. If you have an instrument, the best way is to look for beginner books for that instrument. If you search "music theory" in Google, there are some free music theory lessons on the web - and there are *plenty* of books and workbooks you can buy! But if you answer the questions above, I might be able to help you better.

Cranberry
Music tree books, but again, might be a little young for your child.
musicmommy
There are several good theory books out there. The Keith Snell series is great for her level and would be self-teaching. She would definitely start at the preparatory level. Honestly though, there are also several other great series at the music store. And definitely go for Music Ace. It's great!
