GinaPagnato
If so, at what times? Do you find it helps you lose/maintain weight? Do you find weight loss is easier when you don't snack? I'm assuming the consumption of healthy snacks, not donuts. :) So, even snacks like fruit, nuts, veggies --- are they part of your day, or not? If not, why not? J-rap
Yes, I've always been a snacker. I have smaller main meals and then snack in-between. Usually I try and have a more healthy snack like a banana, a handful of almonds, toast with peanut butter, but I'll admit that sometimes I have a cup of coffee and a couple of cookies. I have two or three snacks/day like that. I just feel better doing it that way. I tend to get shaky and even find it hard to concentrate when I don't eat regularly and often. I've always eaten this way, and my weight has pretty much stayed the same since high school (although it's shifted places, I'm sure!) Ali in OR
Yes, one morning snack, one afternoon snack. I do better with smaller but more frequent re-fuelings. If I don't, I get so hungry I lose all self-control and eat too much at meals. Snacks are 100-150 calories, like an apple plus a half ounce of almonds. I try real hard not to eat at all after dinner. Chris in VA
Yes. I am currently losing weight. It's important for me to keep my blood sugar in a good range, so I snack twice, between brkst and lunch, and before dinner. I also frequently include dessert, but it's not an unhealthy dessert. AMJ
Yup, especially when I ate light or have to wait a while for a meal. If I am hungry I eat -- keeps snarly Mom at bay. And yes, I'm losing weight, because I found out what I had been eating that kept putting it on (so I reduce or avoid those foods now). If you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode, reducing your metabolism to conserve fuel. You have to eat PLENTY (of good foods, not junk) and get some activity to bump your metabolism back up. The flab won't go if you don't work it, and keep up a reliable supply of food (fuel) for your body to burn. It's not as counter-intuitive as you might think. HappyLady
I snack all day, everyday. :) My DH always wonders where the heck I put it because I don't gain weight! I really think it helps my metabolism stay high. I'm sure that doesn't work for everyone, but thankfully for me it does because I like to eat..... a lot.
sbgrace
I have a high metabolism and it's hard wired I'm sure. But I do better with lots of small, snack like meals. I do eat/snack when I'm hungry. I have a son like that too. His twin is more like my husband in body build and does better with a few larger meals.
