beaners
I slept for 9 hours last night, and another 2 hours this afternoon. I just started taking coconut oil again yesterday. I was falling asleep in the middle of the day the same way a couple weeks ago when I was taking coconut oil. My eyes just won't stay open and I doze off on the couch while the children are running around the house. Is it the coconut oil, or something else? Elinor Everywhere
Wow, I don't know. I wonder if there is something in there that you are reacting to? I can't image fat itself making you sleepy. Hmmmm.
MindyD
Of course not! Coconut oil cures everything! :tongue_smilie: Just kidding. I'm no help.
garddwr
Could it be you're allergic to the coconut oil?
snickerplum
Typically, coconut oil has the opposite effect. It's supposed to be good for energy as far as I've been taught and experienced personally.
wapiti
Maybe the coconut oil is killing off yeast, with the die-off effect making you sleepy? Just thinking out loud. Combine it with some coffee :)
beaners
Could it be you're allergic to the coconut oil? I suppose it's possible, but it seems unlikely to me. I don't have any other food allergies, and it doesn't appear to be a common allergic reaction to coconut oil. Apparently there's a rare genetic disorder where people can't break down medium chain fatty acids like those in coconut oil, but that normally presents in infancy and I've definitely had stresses to my system that would have triggered it before now. momacacia
Yes, some ppl have "die off" from coco oil due to antibacterial/ fungal properties.
MariaF
It’s your liver having a hard time processing the fats. I cannot even type the life saga I went through to figure this out but it’s your liver or candida dying.

Dan Tielemans
Many people are so busy they don't notice running chronicly short on sleep. Since good coconut oil is known to contain elements that help us relax we may then fall asleep easier. (And longer to catch up)
