Sew happily ever after
What is the lit analysis like for the middle grade? Upper elementary and middle school?
coffeegal
It's light, worksheet oriented, but lays a firm foundation for rhetoric literature. My D children have a short discussion about the reading. The worksheets and discussions focus on learning the vocabulary of lit analysis. I've enjoyed having kids on several levels, as I can see how what my younger children are studying lays a foundation for the high school years. :001_smile:
Hedgehogs4
Personally, I supplement the TOG lit worksheetswith a "lit club" based on Deconstructing Penguins and SWB's suggestions for introducing literary analysis to dialectic stage students. 3 Other families come to our house every other week and we discuss the book selections. I teach the kids basic lit analysis, literary terms, and discuss the reading in that context. They love doing it like that. We have had some really great discussions and the kids have learned so much about how to approach a book, how to think about a book, and how to respond to literature, even when they don't love it. It has been a highlight of our year.
