HappyLady
I'm trying to plan a trip to visit my DH's parents in Florida (we're in NY). Normally we fly Southwest and have found them to be the cheapest, but now it seems like their prices are all over the board, a lot of their flights are through Air Tran (which I don't like because of the luggage fees), and most of their flights involve a stop with a plane change. With 2 small children, I'd rather fly non-stop. I checked some other airlines, but their prices seem just as crazy! Can you no longer get decent prices or am I not looking at the right airlines?? Mnemosyne
Generally Southwest. However, my favorites (when I can afford it) are KLM and Virgin. I usually look for prices on Kayak or Bing, they have pretty good comparisons.
AnIslandGirl
We love JetBlue! The extra legroom, TV's at every seat, no baggage fees, and unlimited snacks and beverages... what's not to love?
Miss Peregrine
Virgin. And we've found them to be less expensive most if the time. Big cities only, though.
FriedClams
Delta.
Sharpie
Jet Blue for all the reasons listed above. Loved the TV's at every seat when traveling with kids!
kitten18
Southwest if at all possible! By FAR the best airline for us. When is your trip? If you try to book too far out the prices are A LOT more. I find the best prices 3-4 weeks before the trip. If you find a price that you think is pretty good you can book it and then if the prices go down you can rebook and get a credit for the difference. Our worst experiences have been on United, ugh.
AlmiraGulch
I fly Delta most, primarily because I live in Atlanta and that's the primary airline here. I also have Medallion status, so I get perks. I've found that the typiclly the "best" airline, for pricing purposes, depends where you're going and where you're leaving from. So, Delta is usually best for me, but if I'm flying to the Northeast, like Newark, for example, American or US Air are often cheaper. Giraffe
American usually, US Airways sometimes, though I guess eventually those will be the same company. I found the best prices were when I searched the airlines websites individually, not when I went through Expedia or Travelocity. It could just be because we live near a hub, but that's been my experience.
Elinor Everywhere
We have noticed that prices have REALLY gone up recently. Just a few years back a round-trip to Paris on American was $600-700. This year? $1600 is the cheapest on any airline. Also, Southwest Air is a no-brainer for us on quick hops to CA (from AZ), but i just priced tickets for a weekend I want to go over in April, and it's $400 for a 50-minute flight!! Crazy. Sandsam
Delta, mostly because they offer flights to where we want to go.
Excelsior! Academy
We just booked on Spirit. Base prices were great, but they charged per bag and per seat. Yes, you read that right. Per seat. Even with all of that they were still cheaper than any other we priced. I'll check back in in May after flying to let you know about the experience. :)
Caroline
Delta because I live in the Atlanta area.
QueenCat
Now that dh no longer works for Delta, we usually fly Southwest. Southwest is usually the cheapest way to get to Maryland... if going elsewhere, United seems to often make the cut.
