Punchie
My library system has almost none of the recommended books for these two chapters. Does anyone have any recommendations for good books, videos, or websites for these two chapters on India?
boscopup
Did you try typing "India" into the library online catalog and seeing what comes up? Narrow it down to juvenile listings. You should find some good things. Your selections don't have to be exactly what the AG recommends.
stripe
Have you seen this thread by Kate in Arabia? http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/191248-india-geography-and-culture-studies/ (I am happy to report I did get a copy of Sameen Rushdie's cookbook, by the way.) Punchie
Thank you! I will look at that thread. I've searched "ancient India juvenile" for our library system, but over half of the hits reference books/videos on Native Americans. I've searched "India juvenile" as well, but most of those look to be about modern India. I guess really all I need is one or two books per chapter. Our library does have a couple books of Indian stories/tales for children.
stripe
I see the subjects of some promising material at my library under LOC subject headings such as India -- Civilization -- To 1200. India -- Antiquities. India -- Civilization. ** This includes SOTW Also Art, Indic. Architecture -- India. Folklore -- India.
SarahW
You may want to try youtube for some "books" like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HogVmTkhgcI I've been shifting through what books are available for juvenile ancient history, and I've noticed that the list for India is pretty short. I think this may be because the Aryan migration/invasion is highly controversial among Indians, so many history writers pick safer topics for kids books.
