Has anyone had their dc use DIVE Chemistry and was successful? What I mean is, is the content rigorous and truly prepared your student for college? Did you also use the CLEP Professor for CLEP and AP Chemistry? Thanks.

Using it this year with the text from BJU. It is going well. It does not seem as rigorous as the BJU dvd class which I used before. The labs, however, are much better. Part of me likes it better because it makes things so much simpler. Maybe it is as rigorous, just easier to understand? There is definitely not as much work involved for the student. Not using CLEP, and don't do APs here. College prep? Certainly.

Thanks so much for your reply. May I ask, are you performing the labs or are you just watching the labs on DVD and writing the lab reports? So you definitely think it's college prep? That's good to know. Thanks.

We purchased the lab pack that goes with the DVD...Don't remember who it is through, but it was linked when I bought the DVD. We are doing them at home. Some labs are just watch the DVD and do the lab report. 1. I would be cost prohibitive to do every lab. 2. Some labs are not feasible to do at home. Some of the lab materials, like the bunsen burner, are cr@ppy. We are using our camp stove instead. I would say it is college prep. (It seems to me that some people think college prep means college equivalent. It is not that. Personally, I think you can go into a college chemistry class with no prior chemistry exposure and do fine. It makes it easier if you have prior exposure, but it is not critical.)
