*********
Zee's turning 10, and he wants a pinata. We're doing a big Easter dinner/Zee's birthday/Zee's cousin's birthday party next weekend. Anyway, we're wanting to fill the pinata with NON candy things. And while I realize I can just go to the dollar store and fill 'er up, I thought it might be fun to *make* some things to go in it. Ok, reality is I'm cheap and I don't have a lot to do this coming week so I'll have time on my hands anyway. :p But I'm coming up empty with no ideas. Got any? ETA: I can sew, I have a fabric stash, and I'm fairly crafy. Like, I own a few glue guns and some glitter and other random kids art stuff. Flowing Brook
How about gift certificates? One day free off school. Chore free day, outing of your choice... maybe something like that. What about making a homemade puzzle out of pictures or a calendar?
PachiSusan
Dont make it anything sharp - things may fly depending on how hard the piñata is hit!
*********
I just found something! You can make slap bracelets with duct tape and measuring tape. How fun is THAT. I'm so totally making those to go in the pinata.
*********
Hm...sling shots? I was thinking dollar store stuff before I opened this. Ever see those magic towels? Those are pretty neat. Sling shots! Nice. I'm assuming you have a link to a step by step tutorial for me, Wendy? :toetap05: :D
BarbecueMom
We're putting a couple smaller Hot Wheels in ours next week. And plastic eggs with coins inside.

helena
peanuts (not sure if you're wanting no food or no candy) little bean bags... they might break though... http://www.make-baby...-toss-game.html homemade bags to fill with pinata goodies super balls punching balloons homemade scented play dough in baggies (too young?) change fake moustaches (maybe you could make homemade ones somehow?) http://www.amazon.co...=pd_sim_misc_14 homemade crayons http://seasidesiblin...s-tutorial.html I know they're sweet, but they take up a lot of room and are cheep to make, popcorn balls! My cousin always made beautiful and tasty ones for pinatas! Rice crispy treats would work too. (wrap them in colored cellophane.)
Brenda in FL
We're putting a couple smaller Hot Wheels in ours next week. And plastic eggs with coins inside. I would reconsider, unless you've done it before and it worked. The plastic eggs and coins will probably break open as they fall to the ground (or in the pinata as it's beaten), and the Hot wheels may bonk the kids on the head if they fly too far in the air before falling on the ground. Yeah, I thought the eggs might break, but then I can justify throwing them out and not having them all over the house until Thanksgiving (like last year!). And we won't be hanging the piñata up, just breaking it on the floor. They haven't stopped talking about doing paper mâché for a month (don't even know where they heard the term from!) so we're making an egg-shaped one with a balloon. It may not even make it to the piñata stage, haha! Yeah, I guess flying metal cars wouldn't do. :-)
