I just recently saw this new book at Beautiful Feet:

http://bfbooks.com/A...ican-History-HB

I looked for it at Amazon and could only find this book:

http://www.amazon.co...merican history

Did BF, perhaps, redo The Rainbow Book linked above at Amazon, or is this a different book?

I've heard good things about The Rainbow Book of American History and had thought about buying it for my younger dd. If this book is similiar, I may use this book instead.

If you've seen or own this book, please share with me what you think of it? Also, The Rainbow Book covers history up to the atomic bomb of WW2 (or so reads the comments in the customer review section) but I'm unsure of how much history is covered with the book from BF? This would be important to me.

Yes, BF has redone the Rainbow Book. I have it on order, but have not seen it.

I am using the old Rainbow Book of American History currently, and we are almost to the end of it. It is not providential, but it is also not anti-American/hate America.

I imagine that the new edition is revised with modern words for Native Americans and African Americans and other things like that, but I hadn't heard that there was a new edition.

The Rainbow book is not very detailed, but is covers subjects broadly. However, it does have some subjects which we haven't encountered in other American history books such the beginning of football and baseball, the Great Chicago fire, and other cultural events of importance.

I am using it wtih my 2nd and 4th graders. I wouldn't like it if it were the only American history book that I ever read for them in elementary school, but I like it as an addition to the others we have read.

I prefer A First Book in American History along with Stories of Great Americans for Little Americans by Eggleston for the first real foray into American history (young elementary age).
