Flowing Brook
odd but then some people say some of the food I eat is odd.
Orthodox6
I never had heard of poutine until I visited a friend in Montreal. I thought I would have a coronary attack just listening to the ingredients! I was surprised that something so ubiquitous there was unheard of down here (Texas). Caroline
Was a celebrity seen eating this? Maybe someone named Mayim? (On a serious note, I read she is getting divorced.)

I googled that and also found out she's weaned her four year old.
fraidycat
If you're going to go to all that trouble, just eat the dang poutine! No need to add bread in there, too. :001_smile:
dbmamaz
lol if i could eat bread, that might appeal! i'm really glad that the first time I went up to visit dh's family in gatineau i wasnt off of wheat and dairy yet. they gave me poutin twice. somehow, it just tasted like . . food? i tried to recreate it at home, but you really cant find cheese curds. I think i just used mozzarella and turkey gravy? but it wasnt as good.

dbmamaz
Yes, I know they are easy to find north of the border, and in cheese making states like NY and WI, but harder to find elsewhere And speaking of healthy French Canadian food . . .i am always a little grossed out making salmon pie (for dinner tonight). I mean, just the crust is a full cup of shortening . . .and no veggies to speak of . . .but it tastes yummy and dh always requests it . . .childhood comfort food. And the boys will eat it. SarahW
It combines french fries and cheddar cheese curds on oatmeal bread, with a side of pork gravy Oh my. I clearly need to get more Canadian in my life.
sewingmama
Why waste perfectly good poutine by adding bread to it?
