Paige
Has anyone made chocolate from beans at home? I want to try it with my kids along with a fun little chocolate and Inca unit study. I found a recipe online and a place to order beans. I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it was a success or failure? Any tips? I'll probably order just the nibs because cracking and separating the beans seems intimidating to me.
Dmmetler
We did it-it turned out very grainy, but edible.

BrookValley.
I've not tried it, but do you have a local health food store, or even a Whole Foods or grocery store that carries a decent selection of natural foods? Just thinking you may not have to mess with ordering--cacao nibs are pretty popular right now, and most health food stores probably have them. Good luck! Sounds like a fun project.
