Hunter's Moon
Can I just tell them that X store sells it for Y amount, but not have the ad? Anything else worth knowing?
Annie G
That's how the store in our town does it, but usually they have the ads from the local stores- there is a lot of price matching going on so they try to have the ads for the cashiers to use. This week I price matched mayo- without the ad, and the cashier said butter was also on sale at a different store and gave me the sale price for the butter I had. Didn't even know the butter was on sale so I was happy to save more than a dollar on my butter.
FlyingMOm
I always go to the store's website, make a shopping list from their online ad & print it out. Then I have it with me in the store but I've only ever been asked for it one time. The rest of the time I say say- "oh, those are B2G3" and they do it. I've cut my grocery budget by $50/month and we have had a greater variety & amount of food in the house then we've had in a long time. TXBeth
They are not allowed to ask you for the ad. If you tell them the price, they have to believe you (or pretend they do). Maybe if it were really ridiculous (like if you said everything in your cart is on sale for 10 cents each at XYZ store), they would call a manager for approval. almondbutterandjelly
Do you have to go to the customer service counter or will they just handle it at the regular register? What about at the self-checkout registers (only because they don't like to man a lot of the other registers)?
rawbanana
Ours PM's without question unless the price is WAY off. They have ads to check the price w/ at each cash register but I've only ever had that happen once (so if the dog food is normally $12 a bad and you're trying to price match it to $3, they might check that one out =)
