Ann.without.an.e
I was just done....have you ever been there? I knew I wanted something different so I listed it on "for sale" and it sold. She is studying American history. We left off at about 1900. Any good resources to help her complete her study of American history from 1900 (or late 1800's) to present? How about the Complete Idiot's Guide to American History as a spine, and lots of library books and documentaries on specific topics of interest? (The American Experience from PBS is a fascinating documentary series, for example.) Or, how about the free online Hippo Campus U.S. History? BEST of luck! Warmly, Lori D. Candid
There was/is a Complete Idiot's Guide to the 20th Century, Tapestry uses it at the dialectic level.
Mom22ns
Or, here's how about the free online Hippo Campus U.S. History? :iagree: We're doing AP US History 1 this year and will be doing AP US History 2 next year. We've been using America A Narrative History with it. It has been very easy to put together and writing assignments and even a tiny bit of map work are included. So you aren't using all of the required resources that are listed? Do they tell you when to incorporate those resources? thanks
Mom22ns
You just pick one of the main books that are correlated. They provide everything else. We read the correlated pages (I did have to tweak some), then watch the video that goes with it and sometimes explore the extra resources such as original documents. We do the writing assignments which vary each chapter/week. We do the most of the maps, but that is generally 5 min/chapter. We do some of the Free Writing which is practice writing for the AP test. Oh, the kids also define the key terms for each chapter. We are adding in a bit of historical fiction (right now we're studying the antebellum period and reading Uncle Tom's Cabin). I give the chapter tests as reviews then I make Unit tests which have some of the multiple choice questions plus some essays covering the most important topics from the unit. It has been super easy for me and when I asked the dc recently, they wanted to do it again next year to cover the second half of US History. We're planning to CLEP after each half of American. I haven't been able to find a place to take APs here.
