HappyGrace
Trying to figure out which one to use for household organization, high school researching, and a place to keep various info for me. Looks like OneNote would prbly be better for school stuff for dd13, right? Thanks. I'd love to hear you compare and contrast which features you like of each or either one! nmoira
I like Pocket for quickly organizing links for research and for saving items I want to read later. Its lack of all but necessary features makes it very easy to use. All I need is the ability to save the page and to add tags. For everything else I use Evernote, but since I've never used OneNote I cannot compare the two.
HappyGrace
Is Pocket an ipad app? I don't have an ipad or smartphone or anything. Isn't the beauty of Evernote that things are all in one place? Or do you then sync your Pocket stuff to Evernote? Trying to make sense of all this new stuff-thanks for your patience! It has iOS and Android apps, but Pocket also extensions for Firefox, Chrome and Safari desktop browsers. http://getpocket.com/

catz
I love Evernote because I can use it both on my PC and my Ipad. I actually take notes at my kids music lessons on it, and then at home I can print them out. A thing of beauty! :)
Abeille
We use OneNote and it works well, though I haven't used Evernote. I created a notebook for my son's homeschool work (he struggles with handwriting and does the bulk of his schoolwork by typing) on my computer, then set up the netbook he uses for school with a copy of the notebook that automatically syncs with my computer. It makes reviewing his work very easy, and we often send each other silly messages through the notebook. OneNote has been a really useful and fun to use tool for us. I know you can run a OneNote app on IOS or keep your notebooks on the web to be able to sync anywhere you have an internet connection (but haven't used that function). I also used OneNote as a college student and found much better for taking notes in than a word processing program.
HappyGrace
Plum Crazy-awesome blog, etc. Sadly, I just realized that OneNote costs $$. I can't find it in my 2003 Microsoft Office stuff-just Excel, Word, etc. I'm so bummed!!!!
elegantlion
I have Evernote and I like it. You can synch between computers or phones or online. It's great if your computer dies, as mine did. However, I like OneNote's look better, plus you can type anywhere on a page with one note. It feels more like using real paper (in the sense that I make random notes all over a piece of paper, not just a list). It's not overly expensive, but it's been a few years since I used it. You used to be able to get a free trial.
redheadmom
I love Evernote. I even wrote a post about it on my blog I was so impressed, lol. I like that it is software for your computer, an extension for Chrome and an app for iPhone or Android. I can create notes and put them in different notebooks as well as add tags. It's nice to be able to pull up my recipes while I'm in the store.

TraceyS/FL
In OneNote, I'm able to sync ds's schedule in OneNote on his laptop with my computer. When he marks something off it shows up on mine and vice-versa. I like it because I make tables and check boxes. I wish it had all the features Word has, but it's good enough for me. To see some of my checklists, I have them saved here and I made a timeline. I also use it as a rolodex for phones, addresses, user ids and passwords. I have a password set for my password tab. I keep all of my curriculum plans with links and price. I rely on OneNote for just about everything. OK, Darn it, you have me wanting OneNote again on my Mac! LOL!!! I need that type of schedule thing..... I don't think I got One Note with my Windows Office version from school either - not that that helps with the kids computer that doesn't have a virtual machine on it. TraceyS/FL
Have you seen the new Office 365 Home Premium offer? $99/year or $9.99/month for 5 PCs or Macs or select devices It comes with Word, Excel, Publisher, OneNote, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Access with SkyDrive and Skype To buy OneNote individually, it looks like it costs $70. I finally found it.... I got excited for awhile though... I was ready to see if I could swing it just for OneNote on the Mac. But, it looks like it still probably doesn't work..... http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products-subscription-plans-FX102898564.aspx Publisher, Access and OneNote available on PC only. With a nice big footnote that says, "OneNote on PC only". :banghead:
HappyGrace
Thanks-I did see that! I don't know if I can bring myself to spend $70 when Evernote is free. (I have all the other Windows stuff) Hopefully this will help someone that's been wanting to try it though!
