TraceyS/FL Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My now 17 yo despised Writing Strands 3. I gave it to someone.... and they didn't like it either. I kept thinking it was just me - but a friend asked about it on FB not that long ago, and all sorts of her friends pipped up with, "I'll give you ours, we hated it!" remarks. Only one person liked it. Anyway.... it might be a better fit for my middle child, but I still have bad dreams about the battle... so it won't happen here! :p Quote
Ellie Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 If I were homeschooling again, I would make every effort to use all levels of WS. I love the way it teaches--no gimmicks, no formulas, no rules which will be broken in real-life writing anyway. There's no way to know, of course, whether your child would like it; even if I had used all seven levels, that wouldn't be an indicator that your children would love it. I'm just saying that I love the methodology, and it would be at the top of my list. Quote
dancingmama Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My daughter does it grudgingly. She's doing book 3. My son, doing book 2, is doing alright but it is teeny tiny steps. Like one day you write one or two sentences and the next you add adjectives to those sentences for example. It's working for him but I see us either speeding it up considerably or moving to another program. Quote
