LAS in LA Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi all! Has anyone used an Ikea twin mattress for a child's bed? We're looking at ordering the Sultan Hurva, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50219633/?query=sultan+hurva#/60219637 , so it will be sight unseen. Any good or bad experience you can share would be gratefully received! Quote
nmoira Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 We purchased cheaper ones than those about five years ago, and one needs to be replaced (the super-bouncy child's). I like especially that they don't have brominated fire retardants. :) Quote
BrookValley. Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My son has the sultan florvag on his bed; it's an inexpensive one, just foam, no springs, and not very thick (maybe 4"). While I don't think it would hold up well long-term under the weight of an adult, it's surprisingly comfortable (if you like a firm mattress) and suits its purpose just fine for our kiddo. Quote
VeganCupcake Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 We have one for DD--I'm not sure exactly which model it is, but it's innerspring and gray. We has had it for 2 years and it's in great shape. Sometimes I end up on it at night :glare: and I even find it comfortable. Quote
LAS in LA Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Thank you all so much! I feel much better about ordering now. And it's nice to know about the fire retardants -- I've tried not to think too much about what's in the mattresses (since we can't afford a $900 organic one!!!). Thanks again! Quote
Chelli Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 We have these on my girls' beds. They are easily the most comfortable mattresses in the house. The price is awesome for how good the mattress is and they've held up very, very well. Quote
nd293 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I think that's the one we have for the kids - possibly a cheaper one. It's been 4 years for two of the mattresses, and I'm not hearing any complaints. I regularly sleep on one of the mattresses on ds's spare bed and find it very comfortable. I would actually love to replace our 2 year old $2500 super-fancy double bed mattress with an Ikea one, but fear this might send dh over the edge! Quote
