...................
This one is for my sister- her son will be in 7th but he spells pretty well. I remember him always being a good speller...She wants to concentrate more on grammar and writing but she's not really thinking he's ready to drop spelling altogether. Spelling ideas? Or should he just start Vocab?
regentrude
I see no need for a spelling program for a kid who can spell just fine. We have not used one since 5th/6th grade. I also see no need for a vocab program. Just read literature and write.
Freckles
My dd11 is an excellent speller. We will be using Abeka's 7th grade spelling/vocab book. They are pretty tough words from what I can tell online.
~Anna~
My DD is 7th and a pretty good speller. We are doing R & S 6th grade book (almost done) and will move on to the 7th grade book. 7th and 8th books focus more on roots, so I think they will be beneficial. happyhomemaker
Maybe he could just keep a list of words he misspells while writing, and she could periodically quiz him on them. She could also make sure he knows how to spell his vocabulary words. Dd is just in 5th, but I am already seeing that she does better with spelling if we do it in the context of another subject. I think it serves a distinct purpose to her that way as opposed to just spelling a random list of words.
