mom22722
I love sonlight but I am trying to combine kids and it is taking sooo long each day to do school. I combine my 5th and 3rd grader but it didn't work to combine my 1st grader. I have an 8th grader and a high schooler but they are pretty independent. I have tried other programs such as TOG and Winter's Promise but I have not liked them as much as Sonlight so I always end up going back. Does MFW take less time then 2 cores? I see it still has supplimentary work for younger kids so I am just not sure. Thanks
Kathryn
I went to TOG from Sonlight, but I have a friend who went to MFW from Sonlight and is happy. Her kids are 2.5 years apart.
Mom2TheTeam
I haven't chaged from anything, but I'm a MFW user. I can't help you a whole lot from a practical standpoint since my oldest is still in 1st. But, their program is designed to include multiple ages, specifically 2nd-8th graders and you can definitely include younger children as well. Each child needs their own LA and math on their own level. So, they still have that separately. Everything else is together. I have not seen any of those manuals, but my understanding is the guide will steer you to what ecah child needs to do with the material based on their own grade level. The 8th grader will dig deeper into the subject than the 2nd grader. So, they are studying the same thing but on their own level. It allows you to teach them together while still allowing them to do age appropriate work. For several of the programs there are supplemental packages. Some are for younger students and some are for older students. Hopefully, that makes sense. Good luck deciding!
