kajm
We will be there for a day or two next week and wondered if there were any educational and/or simply fun activities to do around that area. I know there are some in Denver, I just wasn't planning on going into Denver, but I suppose we could if there is nothing around the Castle Rock area. Thanks! kajm
Great, thanks for these ideas! What is Lara?
wapiti
You can hike up to the Castle Rock, though you can't actually climb the rock itself. http://www.crgov.com/Facilities.aspx?Page=detail&RID=41 You might stop at Daniels Park (Hwy 85 north to Daniels Park Rd; turn right onto Daniels Park Rd, then turn left to stay on Daniels Park Rd where the road going straight turns into Castle Pines Pkwy), where there is a scenic overlook of the mountains and a buffalo herd roaming around if you can find it. But, that'll last you just a few minutes.
sixpence1978
If you like nature trails and hiking you could try Castlewood Canyon. Or you could go just north of Castle Rock into Parker and go to the Wildlife Experience.
Lara in Colo
Hmmmm, I feel sort of on the spot here.... There is the Wildlife museum a few miles down the road http://thewildlifeexperience.org/ I like the Littleton Historical museum (a real life experience museum with characters that dress up and they have cows and stuff) but this is bias since my FIL was the director there for 25 years. It is about 20 miles from CR in the Denver Metro Area. http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/attraction/littleton-historical-museum-6028-south-gallup-street-littleton-co-80120-us There is a little museum in downtown CR-- I was moderately impressed about 5 years ago. There is more stuff in the summer (like hikes to the Castle Rock, and Daniels Park) There is a section in Castle Pines where the Buffalo roam. (seriously) You could come here and see me!!! (that should be an education LOL)
