Question about a purchase of a game on Steam

I'm so not tech-savvy enough to figure this out on my own. (Yeah, tech-savvy. We'll go with that. I feel slightly less stupid if we make this a "tech" problem. LOL.)

I want to purchase http://store.steampowered.com/app/230940

It's on sale for another dozen hours or so. It fits in well with what we're studying. My kids will love it.

My question is this: I see a Four Pack. Can I purchase the Four Pack and get keys or licenses or copies or whatever for myself and my three kids? Do I just get codes to give away to the kids that they then redeem on their own Steam accounts? (I'm guessing this is how it works, but realize that I could be completely off.) Would it be easier to just log into our individual Steam account and purchase the game on each account?

Whenever we have bought a game on steam, it was linked directly with the account that it was purchased on. We could log on on multiple computers without a problem, but we had to log onto that specific account to play, even in offline mode.

You could log into their account to make a purchase, but if they have more than one account you would have to purchase it for each account.

That's what I figured. So then I didn't understand the point of a Four Pack. Eh. I'll probably just go log in/out of four different accounts and buy it four different times. Fun times!

I *think* when you purchase a four pack, one goes into your account and can't be gifted. The other copies go into your inventory and then can be gifted to friends. I do know from our experience that you can't gift all 4. So one of the sets will go into the purchasing account.

That's what I was thinking - that one would be linked to me, and the others I could gift to the kids' accounts. It doesn't make much sense any other way but I don't want to go back and pay for individual copies later if it doesn't work that way. I can't find anything on their site that explains this further.

So, it turns out....that's exactly how it goes. A Four Pack gets you one for yourself immediately, and three to gift.
