tammyw
We have just finished their Chemistry Level One. I'm looking to buy Life, Level two now, but I'm wondering if I need the Teacher's guide? We didn't use it with Chemistry - my husband just worked through the entire student manual with her. Do we need it?
kdownie
I am using RSO Life with my dd this year, and while I like having the teacher's guide and am glad I have it, I suppose it isn't totally necessary. Most of the labs we've done so far (we haven't done a ton, fyi) you could figure out without the teacher's guide. The teacher's manual does give you a little more information than is just in the student guides, but I still have to say I don't consider it 100% required. kdownie
Also, it is Life Level One that I have. I'm sorry I missed the part that you are looking at Level Two. That may make a big difference.
tammyw
Thanks for the response. Does the Teacher's manual list all the extra books one can read? It looks like (at least for Level Two), it lists those extracurricular things in the Teacher's Guide only, not the student manual. I can see how that would be super useful. redsquirrel
Life level 2 has only been out for maybe a couple weeks. I am not sure anyone knows much about it. I am dying to know what people think as they use it! Has anyone here got their hands on it yet? To the OP you can take a good look at the 'try before you buy' option at Pandia Press. They do give a very generous sample and that should let you get a better idea about needing the teacher book. It should also have all the front pages with suggested extra books etc.

I did the look inside, and it does seem that the biggest offering of the Teacher Guide is all of the "extra" reading. I knew it had just come out, but I bet they are similar to the the other levels. I was just curious if others used the Teacher Guide, since we didn't with the Chemistry level. Since I didn't actually do it with my daughter, (my husband did), he had no complaints, but they didn't go searching out extra materials either. Perhaps this is a point (Level 2 courses) that it's a good idea to do the extra readings.
mommymilkies
I do not think the extra readings would justify such a high price, so I'm probably going to just get the student guide.
tammyw
I do not think the extra readings would justify such a high price, so I'm probably going to just get the student guide. All ebooks are 25% off this month: http://pandiapress.com/?page_id=14 That would help a little. Last time, with Chemistry, we bought the printed comb spine. That was fine for my daughter, but now we can't reuse it for my son, when he is ready for it. What do most do to be able to use this with multiple children? mommymilkies
Yeah, but $26 for essentially a reading list? Yikes. Not in my budget. But if it works for you, go for it!

That's why I'm not jumping on it. It seems to have other stuff, but since I didn't work on the other curriculum with dd9, I am not sure how useful. I will have my husband look at it and hopefully do a better evaluation than me.
