BlsdMama
It's no big secret you can make a whiteboard out of showerboard or melamine cheap. :) However, what I *really* want is a huge MAGNETIC whiteboard. And, at about $300, I seriously don't want to spend it. But someone commented on a DIY board that you can back melamine board with something called FlexIron (magnetic sheeting) and it will make a magnetic dry erase board? Anyone know this for a fact before I drop $40 on shipping and the sheeting?
BlsdMama
Hmmm... Maybe galvanized sheet metal? Showerboard can't be thicker than bead board? They are about the same? http://www.themodesthomestead.com/2012/06/diy-magnetic-board.html
QuirkyKidAcademy
How huge is huge? An oil drip pan from the auto supply store is kinda big - 26"x36" - and super cheap. At less than $10 each, you could put a few of them side by side on your wall. Dry erase markers would work on them too, I bet. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/oil-drip-pan-magnet-boardnic-a-155606
Arboreal TJ
I stumbled on this blog! It's a gem, you use magnetic primer then coat with a dry erase finish. No need to buy boards just paint it on the wall! http://hoosierhomemade.com/diy-magnetic-dry-erase-wall/
