mamalbh
We've started to give our children pocket money each week so they can start to learn money management. Ds is five, not an age I'd usually start giving cash, but his sisters are older and they are getting it. I don't really want him to just carry it loose in his pocket, and at his age a wallet is too big to fit inside a pocket. So, I'm curious what other little guys carry their money in. A small backpack maybe?
Lucy the Valiant
My answer will not be helpful to you, but it is comically true ------> a Mason jar. HAHAHA! He looks so funny, and no, it does not fit in his pocket.

PinkyandtheBrains.
We had a travel wallet that hung around his neck, slipped under his shirt when my younger son was that age. A traditional child size wallet finally fits in his pocket now at age 10.
JudoMom
I keep the wallets in my purse when needed.
lynn
I found cute kids wallets with batman or spiderman that were big enough for bills but still small enough to be carried. However, I think when we actually went to spend money I carried child's wallet or I would pay for whatever it was they were purchasing and said child would pay me back from their money when we got home. (Baby boy just gave up the last of the batman wallets in our for a "real" wallet for Christmas).
Tita Gidge
What about a duct tape wallet, made to size? It could hold a bit of cash, but be less bulky without credit card slots and extra pockets, maybe. Or a money clip. He can put change in his pocket while out, and then transfer it to a jar at home. It can be his rainy day fund :)
2squared
My 6yo keeps his money in a wallet. When he buys something, either I buy it and he reimburses me or he transfers the allotted money from his wallet to his pocket before we leave the house. My 4yo keeps her money in a jar in the kitchen. When she spends her money, I buy the item and she reimburses me. None of my kids carry money regularly. My older two might grab a couple dollars if we are going somewhere, but most of their spending is planned out in advanced and scheduled. KungFuPanda
At that age, my son had a Spider Man wallet that lived in my purse.

Renthead Mommy
Target had kid wallets on chains. I got one to train my then 9yo to carry it so he could carry his ID the next year. I like the idea of the chain and it looked so cute on him. (And then his father went and gave him his old wallet which was 'cooler' as it was dad's and had no chain. So I don't trust him with his ID. You lose your $5 your problem. You lose your ID, it becomes my problem.) He didn't need it till then, but if he had at your son's age, he wore mainly cargo pants and shorts so the wallet would have fit in the bigger cargo pockets. Maeintx
.We liked the travel type ones that they wear. Less chance of them losing it., http://www.amazon.com/Tapp-Collections-Travel-Neck-Pouch/dp/B005IUBUKQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1361744009&sr=8-14&keywords=travel+wallet
HelenNotOfTroy
Mine doesn't carry money, it goes in his piggy bank and if he wants to spend it, it goes in my wallet. I give it to him to pay and he gives me the change.
elegantlion
At that age he had a wallet that I kept in my purse. He would keep it in his room when we weren't out and about. I think it helped create the mindset that it was his money, not mine, and he felt more responsible. My son had a Thomas the tank engine wallet, *sniff* Those days are gone. When he was about ten dh helped him pick out a nice leather wallet that he still carries.
