Susan in TN Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 So a while later he comes dashing into the house holding his hand and saying - "I'm trying not to drip blood all over - can someone get the door?" It wasn't the saw, at least. He hit his finger with a hammer which somehow made a large gash and seemingly has cut a vein. We wrapped it in a strip of clean flour-sack towel and after a while he decided he'd better go to the clinic 'cause the bleeding wasn't stopping. Quote

Susan in TN Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 No kidding about the saw. My FIL cut off half his nose and almost lost his eye using a chainsaw. Quote

Stacia Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 How is your dh? Did he need stitches? Yikes. What a day you guys have had! :grouphug: Quote
LizzyBee Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 We had a day like that. My dh was using the chainsaw to cut up some trees that came down during a hurricane a couple years ago. He came in holding his jeans closed over his knee and said we need to go to the ER for stitches. It was a weekday, so we called the doctor's office and went there instead. As we were leaving, dh took my keys from me and got in the drivers seat! The doctor was really impressed because it was a clean cut. He said usually with a chain saw, there's not enough skin left to stitch. The other doctors and nurses heard there was a chainsaw patient and everyone stuck their head in the exam room to see the injury. After the cut was stitched and bandaged, the doctor came out and said, "Mrs B, I understand you have a clean pair of pants for your husband." I wonder how many people in that waiting room thought he had a different kind of accident! I was kind of mortified about that! Oh yeah, there was also the day I was shopping and dh called me to let me know that he was taking our oldest dd to the ER because she got cut by the lawnmower. When I started freaking out, he informed me it wasn't the blade; she got the mower stuck in a ditch and try to pull it out by herself, slipped and cut her leg on the tow hitch. It was cut down to the bone, but when he said mower I was envisioning lost toes, so at least it wasn't that bad. The ER doctor was a moonlighting surgeon, so he did a great job sewing it up. He and dh talked about fly fishing and the doctor gave him some surgical scissors for tying flies. Quote
Hen Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 glad it wasn't the saw table. My dh is a woodworker, I try not to think about it. If your dh uses a saw table often, you need to get this, it's amazing Saw Stop we have one, I gave up a new couch so dh could have it and I'd have one less thing to worry about. I wish all his saw stuff were like this... Quote
