Simple answer: Their distributor has not given Netflix the rights to allow streaming. Usually this is for new releases.

Long answer: I like this brief justification of corporate greed,

"Many members love our DVD service, as I do, because nearly every movie ever made is published on DVD, plus lots of TV series. We want to advertise the breadth of our incredible DVD offering so that as many people as possible know it still exists, and it is a great option for those who want the huge and comprehensive selection on DVD. DVD by mail may not last forever, but we want it to last as long as possible."

Aha! So now I know. I finally broke down and increased my internet speed (and cost) and added streaming to my Netflix acct. I was quite dissappointed when every TV show I searched for didn't show up in search results. Also, i've been trying out various yoga dvd's and thought it would be great just to stream them. Oh well, I'm going to try this out for a couple months, but I may just go back to my slower (and cheaper) internet and DVD's only.

Thanks Misty!

What also bugs me about the streaming is that even when you do find things that you'd really like to watch, some things are pulled with little to no advance notice. They used to have a large selection of workout videos, including yoga. It all got pulled early last fall, along with one of my husband's favorite TV shows, which he was slowly working his way through 10 seasons of episodes. We called to say "Hey, bring them back" but now 6 months later, still nothing.

We should get a movement to send the Netflix corporate headquarters a million baggies of peanuts every time that happens. Lol but really I can never tell how much it Netflix and how much is the owners of the videos making those things happen.
