New Furniture Protection Plan ???

DH and I finally purchased some new fabric covered furniture (couch, 3 chairs, and an ottomon) for our bedroom and living room. We have not bought furniture other than some wood pieces in many, many years. So...we purchased the furniture protection plan (although we don't usually buy extended warranties on things) because of having young boys and it being fabric. We have a few weeks to change our minds.

Do you usually buy protection plans for your furniture when you buy new? The cost was based on the purchase price of the furniture. It was not cheap, but not as high a quality as maybe say Ethan Allen.

What say the hive? Yay or nay???

Thanks much!

We did it, but only because it was reasonable, and covered everything, and if you don't use it within 3 years, you get to apply to cost to a new piece of furniture. This is with a reputable local company that has been around for years.

After our dishwasher, washer and dryer, computer, microwave, and TV all stopped working within two months of each other a couple years ago, I now try to get a good warranty or service plan on all major purchases...but only if it is worth it price and coverage wise.

We bought a couch, chair and ottoman through the roomstore. Salesman assured us that the protection plan covered all kinds of accidents, no questions asked blah, blah, blah. Long story short, we tried to use the plan to cover some minor damage done by a toddler, and they refused. They said we were to blame for not supervising the child, therefore the damage was not accidental. Basically we threw the money we spent on the protection plan away.
