bethanyjoy
Would doing LLATL Red go well with MFW Adventures or would they not be a good combination? I am also interested in the continuing the sequence (ex. LLATL Yellow with MFW ECC, etc.). Thanks, Bethany
Ruthie in MS
Just about any language arts/phonics curriculum would go well with MFW Adventures. When we were going through it we were using A Beka :001_rolleyes: . We only used Adventures for history and geography. The reading list in the back is fantastic! Donna A.
Would doing LLATL Red go well with MFW Adventures or would they not be a good combination? I am also interested in the continuing the sequence (ex. LLATL Yellow with MFW ECC, etc.). Thanks, Bethany Yes, that would work fine. In MFW, the student always does math and LA at their own level. There are some beginning and early readers suggested (and scheduled) in Adventures, and the Book Basket list in the back of the TM includes a wide variety of books in every genre and reading level from Preschool and up, so that combined with the readers in LLATL Red will give her plenty of reading practice. Copywork, memory work, oral and (brief) written narrations are all scheduled in Adventures, as well. (There are suggestions for how much to have them do in written narrations depending on age and ability.) These exercises will supplement what you're doing in LLATL within the context of history, science, and Bible. We've always done the assignments in MFW as well as separate language arts. There have been times we've had to pick and choose over the years, though. You can figure out if it's "too much" based on your own child's abilities and endurance level, but I think you'll be fine at this point. The amount of copywork, etc. in MFW increases a little each year, and LLATL is a very gentle program.
bethanyjoy
Ruthie and Donna, Thank you both so much for responding. I am trying to pick out what I want to use next year and am nervous about making a mistake! I'm still debating everything -- MFW Adventures vs. Truthquest vs. FIAR and LLATL vs. picking and choosing each LA subject individually! I'm driving myself crazy!!! :001_unsure: Bethany

The only reason I put one curriculum down is because I get bored too easily. I like variety apparently. Don't forget to have fun! :cheers2:

I've done that a lot over the years, even with my older girls. :)
