Classically Minded
What did you use for physics at this grade level? I'm planning it now and looking for curriculum, books, kits, etc.

Dory
This is what I've been looking at as an intro into Physics. I'm waiting for Apologia to finish their chemistry/physics book before doing too much more planning though. We've enjoyed their other books thus far. WiseOwlKnits
:bigear: This is exactly what I was just looking for...
mschickie
We used RS4K Physics this year. It is a really good program and the experiments are a lot of fun and easy to do. I am sure the Apologia book will be great when it comes out. They are talking about using it a co-op next year, if so dd may do another year of chemistry and physics. dbmamaz
i bought the Lab of Mr Q one, but in the end, my son did not much care for curriculum. We did some science kits over the summer, including one all about light, and he's been reading science books, some of which cover some physics. I was frustrated how little physics there was for little kids, tho

plain jane
I used Exploration Education, linked by a PP as well as physics for the grammar stage by Elemental Science. I found that the two combined nicely. ES provided the reading (which EE lacks) and EE was far more hands-on. I also added in Great Science Adventures Light and Sound as I found it easy to implement and my kids found it really interesting and the experiments were quite good and easy for them to carry out and understand. Mama2two
thanks for all the science talk, there is where I am stuck. I was also considering Elemental Science for physics but wasn't familiar with Exploration Education, thank you! I was also thinking of supplementing ES with plans for one of the members here, I have had this link saved for awhile: http://farrarwilliams.wordpress.com/science-without-a-net/ Another supplement for ES that I thought looked good was the Thames and Kosmos Physics workshop http://www.thamesandkosmos.com/products/pw/pw2.html
Melenie
I was looking for a thread like this one, I am undecided. Elemental Science is a possibility for me. I was also looking at using 175 Science Experiments and 175 More Science Experiments in the way set out in the WTM. This is my front runner right now, the two books cover all the physics topics, but I would like to add some kits as well. Another supplement for ES that I thought looked good was the Thames and Kosmos Physics workshop http://www.thamesand...cts/pw/pw2.html Thanks for posting this, I like the look of the kit.
