unsinkable Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I had NO IDEA it was coming out until a about a week ago! My family has been mocking me because I guess it has been advertised heavily since Thanksgiving. !?! So now any time there is a commercial for it, someone will exclaim, HEY! A new Die Hard movie! Is it good? Predictable? Entertaining? meh? Quote
SharonM Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I knew it was coming and made a date to see it with dh. perfect for valentines day. we missed it by a couple days cuz he had to travel for bidness... we are going today. will post and let your know how we liked tit. But I love Bruce!! Quote
violamama Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I totally want to see it. Check out the score for it on Rotten Tomatoes. Moviegoers love it and critics hate it. Sounds like a typical action flick. We'll be seeing it as soon as we get a free night or it comes to our small screen. Quote
Lisa in SC Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Dh and I are planning to go tonight, too. It's a bit of nostalgia for us. We met in '88, and if IIRC, that's when we saw the first Die Hard. I imagine I'll enjoy it, even if only for a bit of old time's sake. Quote
skeeterbug Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 There's a new Diehard movie? I had no idea! I'd go see it as long as Bruce is in it. At the very least it would have to be entertaining. Quote
MtnMama Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I heard it was terrible, but I totally want to see it! Quote
edelweiss Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 People Magazine gave it 2.5 out of 4 stars. I want to see it! Quote
Caitilin Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Dh and I are going tomorrow. I love the Die Hard moves, even though they're totally ridiculous. :D Quote
6packofun Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Yippee-Ki-Yay, Mother Russia!! LOL!!! I love that. Dh and I see every Die Hard movie at the theatre so we'll be going this week! Can't wait. We love Bruce Willis. Don't step on that glass! Quote
Impish Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I may suggest to Wolf that we go see it. He doesn't like the thought of me in a crowded theatre though, so it'll probably wait a while. Quote
BarbecueMom Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 We were supposed to go tonight, but I'm still battling bronchitis. Not sure if I can sit through a movie and not cough. Looking forward to hearing someone's review, since it didn't seem to be very well liked by critics. Quote
Joyofsixreboot Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Totally predictable but totally enjoyable. Snarky comments and lots of stuff blew up.. McClain's " son" was also easy on the eyes. It's not Oscars stuff but if you're going to a Die Hard movie you knew that. Quote

Word Nerd Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I didn't know it was a thing until a few days ago. I miss a lot of previews not having cable. Quote
Brilliant Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Check out the score for it on Rotten Tomatoes. Moviegoers love it and critics hate it. Sounds like a typical action flick. But sometimes the critics are right. It was the same split last week with Identity Thief. I decided to ignore the critics and go with the audience. Big mistake. Luckily, a week later, it just all seems like a bad dream... Quote
AngieW in Texas Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 It was okay, but not great. I thought the 4th movie was better. None of them have really lived up to the 1st movie. It was enjoyable to watch, but it could definitely have had a better storyline. I remember that I hated the 3rd movie, but I was so mad that they split up that it spoiled the whole movie for me. I only remember the beginning. I need to watch it again to see if that was the only reason I hated it. The 4th was pretty fun though. Quote

It's definitely predictable, and the action is totally not believable, but it was fun and we enjoyed it. We've seen them all, so we weren't expecting anything but what was delivered. :) Quote

We went to see it on Friday, and the above comments are pretty much my thoughts exactly. Fun, funny, easy on the eyes, an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, but not even close to being as good as the original three. Quote
cathmom Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Dh and I saw it on Valentine's Day. It was ok. Afterward we had trouble figuring out some of what happened when they escaped from the courtroom. I hate it when there's holes in the plot. If you're paying attention, you ought to be able to understand a movie. If you can't, it's the fault of the script and the director IMO. But, hey, it was way better than Taken 2. Quote

Justin Long dissing Bruce Willis is fun, plus there's the whole take out the helicopter with a car scene. So much quotable fun stuff in that movie. Of course, nothing beats the first one with Alan Rickman . We really liked Red too, they're making a sequel to it. It a similar character for Bruce. Quote
SharonM Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 We saw the movie, I loved parts of it... lots of car crashes and explosions. But the story line was not up to the usual standard. I heard that there is going to be another. I hope that there is a better job of writing for it. i would give it a 3 out of 5. Quote
