First Language Lessons 1 Question

Hi! I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right! :)

I have a 6 year old daughter & we've been homeschooling since October. She was in a private school & was completely bored. She was in a kindergarten class where they were using A.C.E. & basically just learning their letters & numbers( with no goal of even touching on reading this year). She was already beginning to read at home with me using, "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons". Once we finished (100 Easy Lessons) we started in on "Learning Language Arts Through Literature Blue Book. We were 1/4 way through the first part & she was not being challenged at all- & was starting to hate it, so I did the assessment & she passed with flying colors! So I moved her on to the Part 3- which has proved to be a good thing!!! She's challenged & she's liking it!

All that to give you a simple background.

Now my question:

I'm planning my first grade curriculum plan. Would "First Language Lessons 1" be a good thing to go to next or should I look into the next level of Language Lessons??? I haven't been able to have a hands-on look at the curriculum to see if it would be a good fit or not... & I haven't found an answer to that question anywhere online.

I'm just working on my plan so any imput would be helpful!

I used FLL with my oldest and now I'm using it with my 6 year old. We also skip lessons because the book is very repetitive. Still, I like it because the lessons are short, and I need a book with short lessons that get the job done.

To the OP: see if you can find a copy of the older version, which has FLL 1&2 in the same book. That way you can start with 1 and if it's too easy, move onto 2

without spending more $.

I've used FLL1 and half of 2. Like PPs have said, there is quite a bit of repetition, so we skipped a lot.

I just want to point out that FLL is primarily for grammar, which you don't really even need to worry about yet. FLL is gentle, so it's fine to use at this age, but make sure you are looking at the other components of Language Arts as well.

We used LLATL red and yellow and liked them very much. And christianbook, com has views of both FLL and LLATL so you can take a look. :)

I'm using FLL 1 for my 6 year old. For what it is, or isn't, worth I have a B.A. in English, and I find the program more than suitable. We haven't skipped a single lesson and we haven't rushed through it. We use it with Writing with Ease, and AAS. I think the content covered in year 1 is appropriate for a 1st grader. We're just getting to learning the definition of a verb. It's a complex definition that is being studied through the slow way that nouns were also studied giving the learner a familiar confidence. I do plan to go straight into FLL 2 as she finishes the first level.
