Paging Dr. Hive....limping 4yr old

Monday night (while I was not here, of course!), my youngest dd injured herself. According to what I've gathered from my oldest dd, the little one "leaped" and fell onto a small storage container, hurting her knee. Oldest used the word leaped, but then couldn't tell me where she leapt from (ie, their loft bed, the bookshelf, or the floor). DH only knows that little dd was crying, but he gave her a little ice pack for a few minutes, and she seemed fine afterwards.

I discovered all this Tuesday morning, when my oldest dd carried little dd downstairs. That NEVER happens! She was refusing to stand up, or bear any weight on her leg at all. However, she did this really fake boo-hoo "cry" that made me believe she was faking the whole thing. I looked at her knee, and it didn't look swollen. There's a small bruise about the size of my fingertip at the top of her kneecap. I gave her some ibuprofen, and she was generally cheerful and playful all day, although she limped and gimped around.

She kept it up all day yesterday. I've tried looking at her when she doesn't know I'm watching, but she's not been her usual wild monkey self. IOW, she's stood around and sat a lot. Whenever she walks, she either limps or walks very awkwardly, almost like a child with a handicap. I tried to get her to hop around, and although she can do the other leg just fine, she says it hurts to hop on the injured leg.

Sigh.

It's difficult to believe she is still faking. She's not normally one to be dramatic about boo-boos or to lie. She will sometimes fake a cough if her brother or sister is taking medicine and she's not. :glare: I should take her to the doctor, shouldn't I? I hate the idea of subjecting her to unnecessary x-rays, but I'd imagine that's what will get ordered if we go in with these symptoms. OTOH, I am worried about delaying if she has a tear or fracture of some kind.
