morningcoffee
I just heard that my sister and family are visiting to see a new baby in her dh's family. They will be coming for a meal at my house on Friday. Her son is gluten free. I'm sure my sister doesn't want me to go to any trouble and I want something simple to prepare so I can spend time with them. We will also be eating away from the table so it needs to be eaten with a fork. Any ideas? I am going shopping Thursday night. Thanks! Amethyst
How about beans and rice?
UrbanSue
I would just find a recipe that doesn't have any wheat in it normally so you aren't fussing with substitute foods. Mexican is a good bet. Corn tortillas are usually fine (just get the kind that is just "corn, water, lime") and beans, meat, rice, salsa, guac, cheese. My kids love a "build your own dip" kind of meal with chips. Or you can just do taco salad with a fork.
Tess in the Burbs
Grilled chicken and veggie sides, salad, hamburger steak, potatoes, rice, tons of options!
morningcoffee
Thanks everyone! I think we will go with Urbansue's taco salad idea since that will be easy to eat with a fork. Beans would have been good if anyone in my family would actually eat them! (not sure about my sister's kids)
dbmamaz
i usually suggest a roasted chicken - put taters in the pan with the chicken . . you can put carrots in the pan, too
Beth S
My easy suggestion is to stand in the Gluten Free Aisle of the grocery store & buy something there! :)
