fairy4tmama
I am looking for a good quick way to memorize the months of the year. Does anyone have any tricks? This for all three of my kids.
QTMom
My son went to preschool when he was 4 and his teacher taught him a song that helped him learn his months of the year. It stuck with him and he still sings it sometimes if he is trying to figure out what month comes next.
Arcadia
My younger who had trouble memorizing days of the week and months of the year finally did it through songs. The months of the year song that he like was sung to the tune of "Ten Little Indians". This page has the lyrics http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/songspoems4.html
QTMom
Here is the song I was talking about. He sang it a little faster though.

ksr5377
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5enDRrWyXaw Here is the song I was talking about. He sang it a little faster though. I just wanted to thank you for posting this. We have been going over there almost every day for a month - getting nowhere. We watched this 3 times and now both DD's have it memorized! Susie in MS
We used the same song, but much perkier. And we had words like *and*. To 10 Little Indians: January, February, March and April May, June, July, August and September October, November and December These are the months of the year. Days of the week we sang to Oh My Darling, Clementine : Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, Friday, Saturday
knittingmama
We do the same song (10 little indians) for months, adding the "ands," only I think ours come in a slightly different place. January, February, March and April May, June, July and August September, October, November, December These are the months of the year (and then for some reason my kids add this little "toodle-oo" at the end LOL) For weeks, we sing the days of the week to the "Adams Family" theme song, adding the snaps and everything. ;) So it looks like this: There's Sunday and there's Monday, There's Tuesday and there's Wednesday, There's Thursday and there's Friday, And then there's Saturday Days of the week (snap, snap) Days of the week (snap, snap) Days of the week, days of the week, days of the week (snap, snap)

thebacabunch
We used the classic poems found in ffl. We also made a book starting in January where dd wrote the month's name and drew a picture that represented the month. This took about 2 days. KristenR
My girls picked it up from a few repeat performances of Leap Frog First Day of School DVD.
Monica_in_Switzerland
I just had the kids do jumping jacks while reciting the months, sort of grouped in sets of three. It only took a couple of weeks. I've also seen them sung to the Macarena song. :-)
