mamamindy Posted February 13, 2013 Share Posted February 13, 2013 We have really been focusing on getting the basics covered, and developing good habits of routine, etc... I would really like to make sure we're getting exposure in the content areas, but I get frustrated with trying to do it correctly. (For example, making sure we on the right topical library books for the chapter we're on in SOTW, staying on topic for science, etc. Forget organized projects, at least for the next few months, as I just get thoroughly frustrated trying to implement them.) Sure, there are some days when we really can't do the extras (I am considering everything but the basics extras at this point.) But there are days when we can get to them, but then I'm not sure how. I may need to let go of how I think it should look to "do" these subjects... So, those of you in the early years, that have a simple goal of exposure, how do feel like this is accomplished? Incognito Posted February 13, 2013 Share Posted February 13, 2013 Well, if my library books don't match the right time for the chapter we are in for SOTW, I mention - remember when we talked about X? This is a story from that time. OR - we will be talking about these people in a while in our history time. They lived after the X people ( the ones we are talking about now). I don't bother trying to stay on topic for science. If it makes you feel any better, the Sonlight A science we did last year jumped from topic to topic all the time, so we're at least as good as that! ;) I have a framework for some science stuff (BFSU), but we do lots of other things and read lots of books and then do projects or demonstrations/experiments sometimes too. This is a great reminder for me, thank you! And we do about the same thing with our additional history read alouds. I don't know why it concerns me so much when we get out of order!
