Please critique my 7 year olds summary paragraph of her day. She decided to write this on her own so I thought it would be a good time to ask the hive how she is doing

Her handwriting is very neat and legible. A big plus in my book.

I like how she was able to write about every event in the right chronological order. This is something my 8 yo and her friends - with their rambling narratives - are still learning.

I love her attention to detail. She is already noticing things in her surroundings and recording them in her writing. I have read several writing books where the author exhorts budding writers to keep all their senses open and experience every moment mindfully. Your 7 yo has already crossed this major step. Kudos!

On the negative side, I noticed particularly her frequent use of "me and so-and-so..." instead of "so-and-so and I...". I was surprised that a native English speaker would make this basic mistake. This is very easy to correct in daily conversation. Keep reminding her every time she says "Me and ..." and she will soon get it right every time.

Wow! That is really good!

I agree with nansk that the only thing I found wrong was her misuse of "me," but I disagree that it's a "basic mistake." I am surrounded by people who misuse that in speech all the time. I'm sure she'll correct that on her own as she learns more grammar.

Very impressive! My 7 year old is not near that level of writing.

Agree with the use of "me and dad" or whoever. It is a common mistake in speaking too. I'm sure it is easily corrected in everyday life and will translate into her writing.

I am another that hears people make the "me and so-and-so" mistake all the time. I am continually correcting my children and, my oldest being seven, I am STILL correcting multiple times each day.

That aside, I am very impressed. :D
