grantmeawish
Just have to share :tongue_smilie: Apparently I was totally clueless about bra sizes. I have nursed 3 kids and no bras ever fit my deflated balloons correctly. I tried 32A-34B. They never fit well, so I finally bit the bullet and went to a professional, not the 19 year old at Victoria Secret. I am actually a 30 DD. I laughed out loud when she said that. SO, as you go down a band size you go up a cup size. Weird! Trust me I don't have what you think of as double d's. I bought some pricey bras and feel like a new woman! I totally recommend getting fitted by someone who knows what they are doing!
PachiSusan
I had a professional bra fitting when I got married and I was squishing my girls mercilessly thinking it was okay. They needed room to breathe. I went from wearing a C to a DD and my girls are MUCH happier.
kateincali
Oh yes! it makes all the difference in comfort! I remember my first fitting, and the lady was so sweet. She told me most women are in the wrong size bra!
Alexigail
I had this experience too! All of my back pain went away when I got the right size. You might want to do it periodically because bra size changes a lot over time.
sarahbobeara
I've heard miracles happen with a professional bra fitting :) I also need to remember that bras age and aren't so supportive after so many years. I bought a few new ones last month and they support so much better than my older ones. Elastic ages!
runbikeswim
A professional bra fitting and a wacoal minimizer took 15 pounds and 10 years off of me. Not even kidding.
tearose
Out of curiousity, how do you find someone to professionally fit you for a bra--do you just look for specialty boutiques? And how do you know someone knows what she is doing? I supposedly had "expert" bra fittings at a department store (and Victoria's Secret, ugh), and neither yielded options that were comfortable and looked good. Mom-ninja.
Yes, I would also love to know where you had your fitting done. I've heard Nordstrom is the place to go.
SFM
I want to go to one, there aren't any here. I know mine need some help and I think a CORRECTLY fitted bra would help.
Hilltop
I just went to Nordstrom's this week for a bra fitting. They are so helpful and kind. I knew my size had changed since I am 12 weeks pregnant, but it *really* changed... 4 cup sizes larger! I feel so much better with the right size, though, and my back pain has lessened considerably. Alessandra
We have a decent Nordstrom, but the best place I've found is a small family run shop that specializes in bras and is staffed by sort blue-haired ladies who take one look at you and bring you 4 perfect bras to choose from. You don't really browse -- they just bring you stuff. There's probably something under bras or lingerie in your local yellow pages. For comparison (or for anyone in the NYC area or northern NJ), here is my place http://www.woblingerie.com/index.php?main_page=index WOB stands for something like 'Wizard of Bras,' but the local community didn't want the B word on a sign, or so I've heard. There is a "Wizard of Bras" in LA - don't know if they're related. It's exactly as you described. Oddly-shaped older lady who knows what she's doing brings you things to try on. Selection is wildly varied, in a good way. Especially useful for nursing bras.
