Feel free to ask further questions, if you'd like.
faiths13
How do you like it? :)
StartingOver
I don't use exactly everything, but keep the spirit if it. We use All About Spelling since the kids weren't retaining Spelling Workout. Elemental Science is set up like TWTM, we do extra reading. We start Latin earlier. I Will be curious to see if SWB and some of those this to the next edition. I feel we are fully using her methodology. I love it so much, We are doing it all over again. Annabel Lee
Beth, I wrote about how I use TWTM here: http://forums.welltr...-did-you-think/ To answer your question, I love it. It's a ton of work for me sometimes, but I suppose it doesn't have to be. There are ways to do it in a more simple, streamlined fashion. I just happen to be one of those that ends up doing everything the hard way first. :p I love it because I believe it is the best education available to my kids (small town w/ mediocre schools), and I love the idea of the end results. I love the freedoms it has opened up in choice of books & materials vs. a boxed curriculum, and the precious cuddle-time (even during phonics & grammar!) it allowed in the younger years. 2_girls_mommy
I feel like I do, but I haven't used their specific grammar or writing programs. I teach writing on my own, the way they describe, w/out the program. And I have stuck w/R&S grammar which is the rec. for grammar after theirs. When I started they only had the 1st one, and said to switch to R&S after it. I just started w/R&S and it worked great for us. I did science and history exactly as laid out for all of grammar stage. I have done Latin on their schedule. I have now started logic stage w/my odd, and she does their history w/the KHE. I sometimes use something else for a spine that I come across that I like better than what they recommend, but I stay on their schedule. I have use w/R&S for math and spelling, because they work (which WTM says to do: stick w/whatever math works for you...) I am very happy w/both of my children's education and progress so far. WTM works IMO. It may look different than what other kids are doing in P.S. but mine have never been in P.S. so it is all I know.
sillymommy
We use all SWB's recommendations except in spelling. We use AAS. This is only our 3rd yr homeschooling, so we plan to test at the end of the yr to see how we're doing. While I struggle with the day-to-day, the kids frequently surprise me with what they've retained from things we've read, discussed, and experiments we've done. :D yeah! They learned something! They really learned something!
