Extra lavendar?

Recommended Posts

I have a great deal of lavendar in the garden. There are three varieties; English, French and a common one. Thay have not started blooming yet but I was wondering what everyone does with the leaves and plant portion. Any ideas? :bigear:

Mostly, I run my hands through it so I smell wonderful. When I walk in my garden I start near the lavendar, proceed to the basil, oregano, and thyme, and finish off with the rosemary. I love, love, love those scents.

You could clip some and let it dry completely, then sew it into small sachets for tucking in with towels, sheets, and undies.

My lavendar stays green all winter, too.

I'm interested in what you find out. More ideas are a good thing.

Happy - I love the smells too! I need to remember to do that!

Karen - Those wands look pretty. Thank-you!

Lisa - Can you tell me how much lavender you use in the mixture? I would love to put that on my red potatoes.

Thanks all! Keep them coming!

EXACTLY. I love to do this. I look forward to spring/summer just because of this!

I also clip the roses and mint and bouquet them with the lavender and place them throughout my house. Those three fragrances together send me right over the edge!

Lavender is fantastic tucked inside pillowcases as well. You can also boil it w/lemon on the stove (pitch your lemon/orange/lime rinds and a handful of lavender into a pot w/lots of water) and simmer away for a while until your entire house smells lovely. Just be sure to watch the water level in the pot!
