Giraffe
I was in RI for the '78 blizzard and am also grateful to not be up there. I do have family there though, and worry about everyone.
Parrothead
I just saw the weather report and am laughing. 24 inches is nothing for us. Just another winter day in northern Maine.

nandmsmom
We're pretty excited here. I lived in Virginia Beach for a while and missed the snow. It's been 2 years since we had anything significant, so we're ready! The kids are looking forward to sledding.
Parrothead
I'm not sure what is going on. Our local forecasts are alerts for winter storm warnings with accumulations of 5-9 inches. 5-9 inches is pretty much expected any time it snows around here. I wonder how much we will finally get. I hate seeing the news hype up bad weather into something it isn't . People won't prepare for the next bad storm
amo_mea_filiis.
It just started snowing here. Even if this turns out to be not so bad, my car is running so poorly with such bad tires that i have to prepare for all storms. I will not be able to safely drive up or down the hill on my block to do anything. I'm going to run errands now just in case!
AnIslandGirl
We're in the "jackpot" area of possibly getting 36 inches tonight. It's not the snowfall though that we're worried about as much as the high hurricane force winds and the beach erosion. Crossing our fingers that the forecasters have over-exaggerated the severity... a girl can wish, right?
dbmamaz
i'm in VA and i admit i'm kinda glad to be sitting this one out too. i always complain about how warm it is here, but i've been a year without a functioning knee and i have surgery in 10 days . . . once i'm fully mobile again, maybe i'll be up for snow
Rebecca VA
I'm almost giddy with relief, but I feel bad about saying it, when people up north are going to have to deal with this. I still haven't recovered from the blizzard of 2010.
freeindeed
I live in Alabama, too, but I wish we'd get snow. Of course just enough to be pretty, not dangerous. I hope everyone will stay safe and warm!
Orthodox6
There was an AL blizzard in 1978? Wow! We were living there during the blizzard of 1993. We measured 28" of snow in our yard. Except for the four days without any heat/electricity, we loved it! to be living in Alabama than living in Massachusetts! I was a kid in the blizzard of '78 but I remember how bad it was. TravelingChris
I am so happy too. I also live in AL. Can I say that I hate living in places where it snows? I don't mind visiting if the snow already fell- then it can be pretty and I can just enjoy it. But the falling hurts me and then the cleanup is too hard. All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not a supermarket manager in your area - trying to keep the shelves stocked with bread, milk, bottled water, and bathroom tissue :D . Rose in BC
I just saw the weather report and am laughing. 24 inches is nothing for us. Just another winter day in northern Maine. Here too. Although this winter has been drier. We had a lot snow before Christmas until January but very little since. That's okay. I'm ready for spring! I'm ready for spring! Me too. We had a taste of it a couple weeks ago when the temps soared to 50*F for two days. So much melted. It was great. I remember being out of school for almost two weeks (we lived in RI).
Tammyla
We get plenty of snow here, but I'm thrilled not to shovel or snow-blow that much snow. In fact, I can't imagine that much snow in one dumping. My heart goes out to everyone in the path of that one.
Zebra
You can keep your heat and your critters, give me snow any day of the week! Although....I may change my mind by tomorrow  !!!!
