PeacefulChaos Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 A place to live where houses aren't crowded together but is still walking friendly? Or does walking friendly always equal inner-city type life? It would also be low COL, and though not inner-city, being very near a city would be very nice. So, does it exist? Or am I just dreaming? Quote
Ewe Mama Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I'm dreaming of finding a small town with everything I most love (mom & pop grocery store, library, a thriving church of my denomination, a few cutesy shops, maybe an antique store and hardware store), within an easy walk or bike ride from home. Low crime, low COL, four seasons, friendly...sigh. Is Mayberry real? Quote
Guest inoubliable Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 We have all that here. Idk about your denomination, though. We even have an annual fruit festival. (Not naming the fruit. It's a specific one, though.) Quote

They've lived there several years and don't even have a key to their house. It's gorgeous, quaint little village area, friendly people, etc. Quote
MomtoCandJ Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Well I live out of town but It sounds like where I live (well if I was to live in town any way) Quote

They even have Opie's Candy Store, a replica of the jail, tours in replicas of the Sheriff's car, and the diner where you can get a pork chop sandwich! :D Quote
SarahW Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Europe. Which country depends on which church you go to. I'm kinda joking..... but kinda not. :) Quote
Cera Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 We lived in a small ton in New England that met all your criteria except the low cost of living and one in Georgia that met all 4 of your requirements. Quote
misty.warden Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 It depends on what you mean by "inner city". Parts of the west Metro area and NE Portland are very walkable, affordable, and not crowded in my opinion, you can't string laundry between apartment buildings as far as I've seen. Quote
Ewe Mama Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 LOL! I keep dreaming of moving back to England! Quote
dbmamaz Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 you could look at cohousing? i guess most of those are townhouse style tho Quote
