Hmm, is yours the first or second generation Fire?

Amazon just launched an app called "Freetime" that allows to to limit what your kids can use and read on the Kindle. They can't get out of the app without a password even if they turn the Kindle off. It works on 2nd generation and newer models only.

For a extra monthly fee it also gives you access to a library kid's apps, books and videos and you can set it up to limit the amount of time the kid can spend using different things (mine is set to unlimited reading time but only 30 minutes for apps and videos.)

Web browsing is automatically disabled on "Freetime" but I think there is a Khan Academy app for Android that you might be able to add into the list of apps that she could use on Freetime.

I just started the free trial and so far I love it. My 3 year old had a talent for doing factory resets on my Kindle and now he can't do it anymore. Small victory!
