acsnmama
We have 2 sets of large unit blocks, but I just came across the Citiblocs and they look really cool. I know they're just planks, but the things that can be built with them are great! Do you have them? Do your kids like them? Are they of quality? TKDmom
We have something similar: http://www.amazon.com/MindWare-50089W-Structures-200-Plank/dp/B004P5PD9O/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1360117957&sr=1-2&keywords=Structures+planks My ds9 LOVES them. It really is cool how having just the right dimensions on the planks makes them so versatile. He's built some neat structures with them. And dh has gotten down on the floor with him and built some amazing structures. It's fun to have a toy that Daddy likes to play with too. ;) I love things that inspire open-ended play and creativity. Plus they are all the same, so no sorting or worries about missing pieces.
Ewe Mama
We have about five sets of citiblocs. They are the kiddos' foundational go-to toy. They use them with playmobil, Legos, schleich animals, just about anything. Just about every day I go into the playroom and they have constructed some mega building with them. I was very glad we invested in them.
Alte Veste Academy
We probably have about 1500 Citiblocs at this point. They got the big box of 1000 one Easter (DH and I stayed up making their baskets out of the Citiblocs ) and also have quite a few of the colorful add-on sets. My kids love Citiblocs. They play with them all the time (and they also have a big set of unit blocks which still get much play). Citiblocs are one of my kids go-to toys to play with while I read aloud. They frequently narrate with them. My understanding is that the quality is not as good as Kapla or Keva but whatevs :tongue_smilie:, because my kids have had a ball with their Citiblocs and wouldn't have nearly so many if I had to pay significantly more for them. beaner18
I don't have any, but apparently Bionic Blox makes connectors that can be used with citilbloc...so they hold the blocks together to make more stable and interesting structures. I just ordered some of the connectors today. bionicblox.com is the website...
MomatHWTK
We purchased the connectors (and more Citiblocks) for Christmas. The connectors are really neat. My kids still tend to play with their other blocks more, but sometimes it takes them awhile to warm up to a new item. Shop around, some online places offer pretty good deals on the Citiblocks. acsnmama
Great! I was planning on ordering the large set that comes with the box to store them in, It'll fit right on my Ikea Expedit shelf! I cannot afford the Kapla blocks!! We're minimalists in the making. I'll never be in the true sense of the word, but I have gotten rid of so much, but we have narrowed their toys down to imaginext, trios and wooden toys, blocks, train tracks, imaginative play, and some educational games/puzzles. I keep thinking, do they really need more blocks? But the Citiblocs may end up being a favorite over the unit blocks.
beaner18
right now on amazon.com, there citiblocs are $60 for 300 of the plain wood ones...I got those and some connectors from bionic blox....we'll see how the kids like them!
Farrar
We have the Kaplas. They're awesome. :) All the knock-offs seem good to me too though.
kubiac
Citiblocs are my son's favorite toy right now. He uses them for every kind of imaginative play more than actual construction, but suffice it to say, they are in CONSTANT circulation.
