SilverMoon
The problem isn't that there's not "enough" review in MCP. There isn't any review of old concepts. If it's not a concept that will be built on in a future chapter (say, an early chapter on basic multiplication, and another later on teaching multiple digit multiplication) the only place you'll see it again is a problem or two on a chapter test. That said, when I used MCP I solved the lack of review problem by skipping around. Rather than working straight through the book I had mine rotate through about three chapters at a time. A lesson or two from chapter 3, then a lesson or two from chapter 4, then a lesson or two from chapter 5, then start over at the next lesson in 3. Faithr
There is actually review built in when you do the standardized test pages at the end of each chapter. It isn't much but it is there. Also there is review built in all the time when it comes to the basics like adding, subtracting because you are using these in your math to solve problems! For instance when you learn long division, first you review division then you learn two digit long division, then three etc, during all this, your child will be reviewing by doing all those long division problems! Also, if you do the mental problems at the beginning of each lesson you also will review. I think often people just have their kids go through the workbook problems and don't bother with the standardized test practice or the mental math and so if there isn't a section that says review or if it is a different approach than a 'spiral' approach, they don't think it has enough review in it. In addition to all this, there are extra tests in the back of the workbook, so you could use these to review when you felt your child needed it. So I would figure out if your child is even going to need review before worrying about another resource to give you that.
