Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Good morning everyone. It is dense fog here this morning. How's your weather? Clean kitchen Laundry Zumba Grading Get part I need for the printer. I wonder if they will refund me my money? I can't find my receipt but what they sold me was damaged. Paint bathroom? Dd volunteers in the a.m. and then again in the evening. Have to make sure she doesn't get too tired and have a migraine. Sunday school prep Quote
Faithr Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Hi Jean, Very cold outside today. Unloaded dishwasher Already did a lot of emailing for something in the works Got bagels for breakfast Showered Planned meals for upcoming week Now headed out the door to do the weekly grocery shopping Quote
beaners Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 We're getting lots of snow here. My back hurts so much that I can barely move, so I'm directing things from my chair today. Right now I'm organizing the messy papers at the computer desk. Everyone else is napping or playing in their beds right now. If I could bend down without falling over, I would be hugging everyone to tell them how much I appreciate that they are being good because they know I'm hurting. Soon the girls will trade turns doing dishes and reading to me. After that I'll sit on the couch and fold some laundry while we do math. I promised they could play outside, so I'll get them dressed and send them out while I watch from inside. Put on a French video while I make some dinner. Sort through the papers and bills my husband gathered from throughout the house. The kids will write a couple more (very late) Christmas thank yous. Baths and streaming classical music to calm and quiet everyone while I do read alouds before bed. I'm already counting the hours until my husband comes home, I can lay everyone down, and have a glass of wine to relax the muscles in my back. Yes, that's why I want the wine. For my back. It's medicinal. Quote
Susan in TN Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Good morning, Jean! We had a beautiful snowfall this morning - enough for the kids to run to the park across the street and go sledding for a couple of hours. I've been watching and taking pictures of all the birds (and squirrels) who have come to our deck for an easy breakfast. Take down Christmas decorations: ornaments garland misc. tree/lights (dh will do this) Put away Christmas cards Talk with/encourage ds over disappointing audition result Find the butter (or buy some) Make almond flour pumpkin bread Rearrange large items in playroom/area Lunch - leftovers Dinner - sesame chicken Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Beaners - I'm sorry about your back. Would an epsom salt bath help? Along with the wine? Quote
readinmom Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Pick up dd from church sleep over laundry grocery library shop for couch we can't afford (old one has had it, not possible to repair) grade vocabulary make dinner: quiche, salad And that's as far as I got. We both came home and took a nap, mine much longer than hers! Quote
beaners Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Beaners - I'm sorry about your back. Would an epsom salt bath help? Along with the wine? Now that you mention it, that sounds lovely. I know where we have some too, but they've got a strong icky smell to them. I'll have to ask my husband to move some things so I can dig around and try to find a plain bag. Math and laundry are mostly done, but the dishes are staring at me from the sink still. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Zumba done. I helped lead a new song today - a cha-cha! I love the cha-cha. 1 load in washer. I am frustrated because the Sparkpeople site keeps freezing for me every other day. I thought it was my computer - it isn't. I thought it was our router. I'm at the Y using their Wi-Fi - it isn't. I think it is Sparkpeople. Now that I think about it, other people have mentioned it happening to them too. Currently grading geometry. Quote
Lily_Grace Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Saturday DONE! Went to hardware store Went grocery shopping Had small birthday party here for my own Groundhog (3 today!) Went to neighbor girl's birthday party Took the Groundhog bowling Dropped the Big Kid off to finish his rock climbing merit badge Ate dinner, put Groundhog down for bed Picked up the Big Kid Swept, did dishes, did a load of laundry, and cleaned the bathroom. It's time for bed now! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 What a cute nickname - Groundhog! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Geometry grading done. Ds did very well on his midterm!!! Next up: lunch, clean kitchen, switch laundry around, figure out printer. Quote
Mom in High Heels Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Well, my Sat is over (9pm here), but I tackled it! I cleaned out from under my bathroom sink. It was a crazy hot mess. I came out with an entire garbage bag of just stuff that I didn't need or had expired forever ago. I reorganized what was left and felt much better about it. I also worked on corralling our random cords. I grabbed empty toilet paper tubes, folded the extra lengths of the cord (like all the extra from the printer, computer, etc) and shoved it inside the empty tube. It's amazing how well it worked! I won't be stepping all over cords in the school area. It's not all that attractive, so I'm going to wrap some pretty paper around the tubes. I also ran and emptied the dishwasher, wiped the counters and started going through piles of old paperwork and tossed what could be tossed and filed the rest. Yay! Quote
swellmomma Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I keep trying to tackle saturday but it keeps tackling me back :p On the list today Clean the boys room. I have not checked in the last month, until I helped with ds9's bed when he got sick the other night. It is getting an over haul. never in my life have I grown a foot by walking into a room. Disgusting. So it is getting emptied, bleached and limited items back in. Clean kitchen, livingroom and entrance way including floors and spot wash walls as needed. Laundry, especially since I am rewashing everything in the boys room. I don't have a clue what is clean or dirty, even though I just did all their laundry(or thought I did) 2 days ago, everything is mixed together. Haul cardboard to the recycling drop off pick up groceries (primarily produce) create animal feeding chart so kids/teens can take on more of that themselves read to end of page 111 in CM book in time for CM bookclub tonight participate in CM bookclub find my canadian picture books to list on thread on here. finalize my canadian civics course plan that I created last night If I get through all of that, I may tackle the backroom, but not counting on it until tomorrow. Updated: 1130pm. Stupid boys room only 1/2 done. starting to have issues with AF showing up in the next 24 hours so it is slowing me done. I did however finish creating my civics course and made it all pretty in excell. I may still shift some stuff around but if I don't I am quite pleased with it. Book club was a great discussion. Come hell or high water I will finish that stupid bedroom tonight, I can not believe they let it get that way. New rules crashing down on them tomorrow when ds14 gets home. Rest of house not likely going to get done today like planned which irks me. I thought I would be done much more today but it is what it is. Quote
Faithr Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Hmm. I haven't gotten much done since I last posted. Ran out of energy. I did however grocery shop and I planned my class for Sunday school tomorrow. I do need to finish getting that prepped and then clean the kitchen and do some laundry. But man am I feeling so sleeepppyy. . . . awful. Quote
Desert Rat Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I've gotten heaps done today! I got 12 hours of sleep last night thanks to NyQuil and an extra dose of cough syrup at 6am. It was glorious! I still have a sore throat but lot's of energy. My friend posted on FB that she would be helping her daughter at a nearby grocery store collect canned goods for Ronald McDonald house. So, I started going through my pantry for a few things dh could drop off on his was to fishing with ds9. Then, I found a few cans that were out if date. I started pulling out stuff to rearrange and organize. After that, I decided to organize the overflow pantry ( where I keep staples that I but in sale). I did so great with that project, I decided to clean out the master closet and the shelves in my room. I had fun. :) Laundry is started. Dh and ds just got home. They got skunked but it's such a lovely day here, sunny and almost 70, that the boys are out goofing around. I can here them playing because the front door is wide open. Ah! Fresh air! Archery tonight. It's a nice relaxing day! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Cleaned the kitchen and talked to a friend. Quote
beaners Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 The kids had lots of fun in the snow. I finished the dishes, sipped some tea, and scrubbed down the dusty canisters and pitchers. They still have some reading and writing left. I can't do more laundry because I think the lid switch is broken on the washer. Dinner is cooking. We've already gotten a lot more done today than I would have guessed. Quote
shanvan Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Saturday has tackled me! It's pretty much all over for us now. We're all either on a couch or recliner recovering. Dog grooming last night until 9:30, packed the car for today and left for the dog show at 6am. Drove 2hrs to get there. Dd worked with professional handlers all morning and showed her own dog in the afternoon. our whole family helped out with holding dogs, helping breeders pack up, grooming. Broke down crates and packed the car again. Just got back from the 2hr drive home. We are tired! I don't know how people do this as a way of life! She won her class though. Yay! No more shows until next month at the earliest. Now we are praying that we don't get the flu. I wish I spent the day making progress at home, but Dd is glad i didn't! Quote

But lo and behold, I can look at that side of the room without groaning. It's clean and the process was very theraputic. Working on dinner now. Won't get to the pumpkin bread today. Hopefully will have time to finish up with the Christmas stuff while bathing the little ones. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 I have now been on the phone for over an hour with the printer support person! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Gah - 1 hour 28 minutes on the phone! But they are sending me a replacement. Quote
Desert Rat Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Ack! Jean, that's a long time on the phone. Glad you're getting a replacement. In the time, I did our taxes! I wasn't planning on doing that this afternoon. Glad it's done though! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Got ds to help me finish the first coat of paint on the cat's bathroom wall. Why did we choose such a light color? It's going to take a million coats to make it look nice. . . . Now. . . dh is taking me to see Les Mis. :001_smile: Quote

It's going to take a million coats to make it look nice. . . . Now. . . dh is taking me to see Les Mis. :001_smile: Now my cat is jealous of your cat. She wants her own bathroom and a new paint job. And I'll admit to being a tiny bit jealous of your night out....that is I'd be jealous if I weren't so tired. Quote
beaners Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I have some papers left to sort, and we skipped baths for the kids tonight because one fell asleep before dinner and I can't bend down to rinse their hair. Now I've settled nicely into my chair by the computer, and I don't plan on getting up until my husband gets home. Quote
Susan in TN Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 In the time, I did our taxes! I wasn't planning on doing that this afternoon. Glad it's done though! Taxes - yes, I need to get on this. Hope you had a wonderful time at Les Mis, Jean! Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Taxes - yes, I need to get on this. Hope you had a wonderful time at Les Mis, Jean! Dh and I loved it. It was a joy to go with him because Les Miserable is one of my favorite books and since he refuses to read it. . . But it was really well done. We actually went to the movie Les Miserable. Quote
