Alicia64
My 9-year-old sons are doing Teaching Textbooks, but I've been supplementing with Xtra math. So they do 1/2 of a Teaching Textbook lesson and then two rounds of Xtra math. One of my sons just finished Xtra completely -- so he's finished addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Coincidentally he also finished Teaching Textbook grade 4 today too. So he'll start grade 5 on Monday. I'd like to have something to add to Teaching Textbooks. I'm thinking of having him just do another round of Xtra math, but once he's done with it can you suggest something online that he can do? Something similar to Xtra? I'm open to any suggestions! It is free and no account needed. There are games for other subjects too.
tomandlorih
If you are still wanting them to work (or keep up) with their basic facts.. try Timez Attack. Video game style that has all four basic operations. + - * / http://www.bigbrainz.com/ Free download and great, great reviews.
besroma
We like Muggins, Jelly Beans, and Knock-Out games by Muggins Math. We also enjoy RightStart games and Life of Fred.
Mommy22alyns
If you go into the Parent section of xtramath, I think you can change their program to something else beyond the basic four operations. I'm pretty sure I saw it when I changed Rebecca to division.
AmyontheFarm
I thought there was some pre-algebra also, but there isn't. I was really excited to see that they have created a 6 second timed level. (The norm is 3 seconds.) My spec-ed kid physically couldn't do the 3 seconds with his muscle coordination. So, I'm so excited for my son! He'll be able to earn smiley faces now! We were having him shout out the answers and I'd type it in for him. So, now he'll be able to do it himself! Did your son do the advanced levels? It just means the times are shortened to 2 seconds and then 1.5 seconds.

Well, my son's account just says "Tell your teacher or parent that you are finished with your current XtraMath program." I can't see where it offers faster times or anything. I'll ask my IT dh to look into it. Alley

On the left hand side is a list, and on that list is "change program." Click on that and pull out the drop down menu for more options. I thought there were more things, but apparently it's just extended or shortened times.
