speedmom4 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I have previously done a Beth Moore study and love how she brings the Old and New Testaments together. She makes it so very personal and interesting. I have already done Jesus the One and Only and have worked partway through Breaking Free. I really would love to do her Esther study but I don't feel like I have time to do it in a group setting. Have you ever done one alone? Did you also watch the videos or just the workbook? Thanks, Elise in NC Quote
PeacefulChaos Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I tried doing just the workbook to Believing God by myself and I made it over halfway through. I will say, however, that it's harder. Sometimes, if the class/video session is every week, I fall behind even then, but with no class? Ha...yeah. That lack of 'due by this date' (even though it really isn't 'due' lol) just makes it slip from my mind sometimes, and makes it hard to keep up. I joined the Living Beyond Yourself online one - probably 6-8 months ago. I've watched the first session and done the first day of homework. I honestly forgot about it until now... I'm just one who likes the group setting, I guess. It's funny, because usually I don't need that sort of accountability to stay on task (I hated college but loved doing school online, for example, and have always been disciplined enough for it). But the Esther one is one of my favorites! I would definitely recommend it. You could try to just do the group setting every other week instead of every week, maybe? Or go for it by yourself. It's really good. Quote
TXMomof4 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I loved tye Esther study and while I originally did it in a group I have gone back to parts of it over and over. Definately watch the videos - especially week 5. That one was a game-changer for me. Eta: you know you can buy individual video sessions online to download, right? Watch week 5 just because. Its that good. Quote
Ewe Mama Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I did her study on the Psalms of Ascent on my own, with just the workbook and my Bible. It was just what I needed at that time of my life. Quote

Thanks, Elise in NC Esther is the only one of hers I've done, and it was in a group setting. The study was phenomenal! I would have enjoyed it alone, but the group discussions really did add to my perspective. That said, not all small groups are created equal, and if you don't have time to join a group, you can still glean a lot just having a personal study and time with the Lord. Quote
LifeLovePassion Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I was just thinking of diving into her James one on my own. Quote
Down_the_Rabbit_Hole Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 We are doing the Daniel study as a family. All I can say is WOW. We watch the video on Sunday and do the workbook through the week. The video is the key component of this study but I do not know about her other studies. Quote
Chris in VA Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I've led a lot of them--just finishing James at church. It's hard for me to do on my own, but definitely one COULD do them that way. I need more accountability. I think, also, that finally having the videos online helps tremendously. Definitely do the videos as they add sooo much. Loved Esther--James is good, too, and the Tabernacle one is my fav (but I liked the older videos better than the new ones--she redid it several years ago). I am going to do Paul with some friends, as I got about 1/4 of the way thru it on my own (without the vids) and need the support. James is nice because it's lighter and only 7 weeks of lessons. But dig in--they are great studies! Quote
Twigs Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I've done several on my own. I just do the workbooks. My favorite is A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place - a study on the Tabernacle. Best wishes. Quote
janie_ranae Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Is this the site for the Bible studies? Also wondering if I'm reading this correctly . . . is it $5 for each session? e.g. Esther would be $5 x 10 sessions = $50 Thanks! Quote
