hsmom27
My sister is seriously considering homeschooling and asked if I had any links to positive articles or homeschool statistics. I know they exist, but I thought some of you might have a bunch ready to go. Or maybe you could link me to a previous thread on the topic. Thanks
Mom22ns
This study is from 2009, but it is well done and well presented. http://www.hslda.org/docs/study/ray2009/default.asp
Farrar
I'm never sure why homeschooling studies will sway anyone. Most of the ones that have been done are with biased samples so they don't say much about the total outcomes. Besides, it's not like looking at the statistics from a school and seeing that 90% of students achieved such and such great test score. Those kids were all subjected to the same methods and environment. With homeschooling, that's not the case. Basically, many people have had good outcomes with homeschooling so it's completely possible to do so. Homeschooling is individual so it's not a guarantee. Absolutely, and I pointed that out to her already. She knows she wants to do it. She knows her kids need to leave their school environments. She's just scared because she never contemplated schooling her kids herself. She's also going to face a massive amount of negative family pressure. Hopefully this will help her get her big girl pants all the way pulled up, so to speak. :) Thanks everyone for the links!
