onaclairadeluna
There are lots of 2e parents on this side too. So you might want to cross post.
bluedarling
There are lots of 2e parents on this side too. So you might want to cross post. Is there a way to post on both at one time, or do you just copy and repost in the other forum??
PeterPan
You can copy and repost, labeling it as a x-post. You might find though this is a pretty friendly place to be. It's not everywhere you can say I want to do calculus with my kid who can't spell and people get it. :)
Mukmuk
Yes. Wanted to add my voice to the community of 2Es here. :seeya: I post here and in the Accelerated Learners' board. Exactly what OhElizabeth said. When you have 2 ends of the spectrum, it's a weird world that few can understand, except for mums who've btdt. Plenty to learn from each other! At the moment, I'm pushing for my son to do more. For years, he's done only one subject (and even then, intermittently). But he's had great developmental strides in the last year and is *ready* for, say, grammar (gasp). It's odd to say this for a 10yo kid doing Algebra I, but he's never really pushed himself. So I get cries now like, "I can't do this stuff!". Sorry kiddo  . You're just gonna. And it won't kill you! I'm happy to report that after coming up against a steely-eyed mama this month, he's hustlin'! See you on both/the boards!

GoVanGogh
:iagree: And I am homeschooling an only child. I can compare him to friends' children but don't know how typical homeschooled children learn. But DS was learning so fast on his strongest subjects and just stalled on his weakness. Suddenly we were looking at a 10-12 year gap between the two levels he was capable of working on. It is a weird world! I would also add that it made dx'ing his issues so much harder, as his vocabulary is so advanced. Doctors kept saying that he wasn't missing any big developmental milestones and they would brush off my concerns because he comes across as very well educated.
