MCT town has been great for DD so far, but it's obvious her physical writing speed is causing her to hold back on the writing, so I'm considering doing something else for LA this following year and not doing the paragraph town writing assignments this year at all, picking those up next Spring, and then going on to Voyages at age 9 1/2 instead of at 8 1/2. The question is-what to do next year? She's advanced in LA in general-she's one of those kids who just seems to instinctively "know" what's right and therefore tests well, but doesn't always know terminology. She enjoys things she can do independently, although she's also seemed to enjoy MCT even though we do it together.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

For grammar, you might look at Analytical Grammar. My kids are able to complete the high school text at a young age.

Fwiw, just a heads up, essay is full of transcendentalist writings. It didn't appeal to my really strong student in 6th and didn't appeal to me either.

After my oldest finished up "town", she did Killgallon Grammar for Middle School, Scholastic Paragraph Writing Made Easy, then the first part of WWS1. WWS got too difficult for her after week 11, so we paused there and have been doing those skills using other source material. I should add it back soon into our LA "loop" schedule now that she's more mature. For the grammar, I've been having her diagram a sentence every Friday and she also does Evan-Moor Daily Paragraph Editing in the spring semesters to work on mechanics skills.

I haven't actually looked much at KISS grammar but it is free and uses literature as its source material.
